Meet the RugOne Xever 7 Pro: FLIR Thermal Imaging, Built In

For most people, thermal imaging still feels like specialist gear — something a pro carries in a hard case, not something you’d have on you by default. We’ve wanted to fix that for a long time.

Today we’re announcing a strategic partnership with FLIR, the global leader in thermal imaging. Not a licensing deal, and not a sticker on a module — a real collaboration, and the first device to come out of it is the RugOne Xever 7 Pro. We’ll get to it in a minute.

Why FLIR? A Partnership Built on Precision

When we started working on putting thermal into RugOne devices, we had a short list of requirements: proven hardware, real software support, and a partner who cared about the result as much as we do. FLIR cleared every box.

FLIR has been building infrared technology for nearly five decades. Their sensors and algorithms run in tools used for industrial inspections, public safety, defense, and scientific research — the kind of environments where “good enough” isn’t good enough. That’s the standard we want for our users.

This isn’t a case of buying a component off a shelf. We’re working with FLIR’s team on the integration itself — image processing, temperature accuracy, and how the camera behaves inside a rugged phone that gets dropped, rained on, and carried into the field. The result is a thermal camera that behaves like part of the phone, not like an add-on bolted to it.

What This Means for You

Practically speaking, it means you get a new sense you didn’t have before:

· See in total darkness. Not “low light” — no light. A night hike, a dark crawlspace, a power cut at home. The phone shows you what’s there instead of making you guess.

· Spot problems before they become emergencies. A breaker running hot, an overheating motor, a pipe leaking behind a wall — thermal shows the temperature difference while there’s still time to do something about it.

· Find things in the field. Animals leave heat trails. Lost gear shows up against cold ground. Even picking a campsite gets easier when you can see which patches hold heat.

· Work faster. Whether it’s an inspection on the clock or a Sunday-afternoon troubleshooting session, seeing the problem cuts out most of the searching.

We’re not promising thermal will fix every problem. We’re promising it will show you problems you couldn’t see before — and that’s usually the hard part.

Meet the RugOne Xever 7 Pro

The first device to carry this partnership is the Xever 7 Pro — our rugged phone with FLIR thermal imaging built in.

It’s the same phone you’d carry anyway, which is the whole point. The thermal camera sits in the body alongside the main cameras, runs off the same battery, and survives the same drops and weather as the rest of the phone. No dongle to lose, no second device to charge, no separate app ecosystem to learn.

The practical moments are where it earns its place: checking whether that wall is really dry, scanning a fuse box before touching anything, finding your way back to the tent at midnight, or just seeing what made that noise in the yard.

If you want the full picture — sensor specs, measurement range, the works — the product page is the honest source. We’d rather you decide on numbers you can verify than on our adjectives.

This is the start of the partnership, not the peak of it. There’s more coming down the pipeline, and we’ll share it as it ships. If you get your hands on one, we’d genuinely like to hear what you find with it — good or bad. That’s how this gets better.
